- 40+ years in the energy industry with primary focus upon the integration of projects involving cogeneration and/or gas to liquids technologies.
- ConocoPhillips European Power Manager – focused upon power and gasification projects including:
- Identification of opportunity and configuration for new “across the fence” highly successful 1,100 MW Immingham CHP project integrated into two existing major UK refineries (Humber Refinery and Lindsey Refinery) commercially structured to accommodate project debt and equity. The project consisted of two phases of development including approximate 700 MW in Phase 1 and approximate 400 MW in Phase 2. Development also included active interaction with UK and EU agencies relative to Combined Heat and Power development issues/opportunities.
- Identified the opportunities and enabled the 3rd party development of two other across the fence completed projects in Europe, including a 58 MW cogeneration plant in Northern England, and a 445 MW cogeneration plant in Ireland.
- Identified opportunities and managed review of cogeneration opportunities (including biomass and/or natural gas) involving several other refineries and chemical plants in Europe and in the US.
- During current A&G consultancy played a key role in the development and implementation of a new completed landfill gas to liquids project in the USA utilizing Fischer Tropsch technology, a CO2 capture project utilizing mineralization technology, and continued development of a 440-mile high voltage direct current line in the USA.
- Along with his development team, George Armistead received the Annual Award for 2005 from Cogen Europe “for an outstanding contribution to the development of cogeneration in Europe”.
